With one week until our submission date deadline, we are still hard at work with getting our documentary to picture lock. We are on a tight schedule, with our premiere coming up in less than two weeks.

Due to this past holiday weekend, some were not able to collaborate as much as we had hoped, while others worked around the clock.   On Tuesday, we watched over a rough cut of our documentary, critiquing what we think still needs to be adjusted or improved. While the editors were crowded around the computer in the editing room, the transcribers were looking for footage, sound effects and started writing personal thank you notes. Their notes will be sent to all of the people we met in Hawaii who assisted us in telling their story.

As of now, the editing team will be working on audio sweetening and our lower-third graphics. Audio sweetening involves the fine tuning of tracks where sounds are enhanced, or fine-tuned, so that they flow together nicely. This is done by adjusting each track to meet at an equal level. Simultaneously, we are putting our lower-thirds together in their designated places, which inform the viewers with important information of whoever is currently on-screen. These graphics generally take up one-third of the frame, thus giving it its name.

Both of these viewings are free for Pace faculty and staff. To reserve your spot for the reception at Jacob Burns, click here. The reception begins at 6pm, followed by the premiere at 7pm. To register for the premiere at Jacob Burns, and for Pace faculty/staff, use the code: PaceFree when checking out on their website. Our second showing at the Schimmel Center in New York City is free to the public. To reserve a spot for the showing at the Schimmel Center, click here.

On May 1st, our class is going to Jacob Burns for a tech-check, and to see if we need to make any last minute adjustments before our premiere date. The following day, we do the same at the Schimmel Center in New York City. We are looking forward to seeing our documentary on screen and are happy to tell the stories of the people we met on the Big Island.
