Tuesday, April 30th, marked our last time meeting in a classroom setting. Although this was a bittersweet feeling, there was hardly time to dwell on it as there was still so much to do. We watched the documentary in its entirety and took notes of any last minute changes that needed to be made. Any and all of these changes were implemented Tuesday night before the export began that same night.
The first official tech check was Thursday at 10AM at the Jacob Burns Film Center. On Friday, the hard drive will be delivered to the Schimmel Center for the city showing next week. Before this, four of our fellow students were able to view it at a local theater in Connecticut over the weekend.
Although the class is coming to a close, we hope to stay active by entering our documentary to various film festivals over the next year. We will also send the final product as a YouTube link to everyone in Hawaii who was involved in the process. We want to be able to send the link as soon as possible, so the emails were drafted during class. This way, we can send the documentary link out as soon as the premiere is over on Wednesday night.
We are all excited to see our film on the big screen for the first time. Pace has shown its utmost support to make this event special for us. Pace University President Krislov will be in attendance and Dean Nira Herrmann will introduce the film with a short speech. The Public Relations Event Planning class is arranging the Jacob Burns Film Center with a photo backdrop and handing out leis to those in attendance. After the showing, our class will get on stage for a question and answer session. Audience members will be able to ask us questions about our class and the process we went through. We are looking forward to engaging with our viewers and hearing feedback on our documentary.
We are starting our countdown until the premiere date on our social media channels @pacedocs! If you have not purchased tickets yet, it is not too late! Click here for the Jacob Burns link and here to reserve your spot at the Schimmel Center.
